After giving away their entire catalog for free earlier this year, De La Soul are gearing up to release their first album in 10 years, You’re Welcome. Before that, though, the Three Plugs are putting out two very special projects: the DJ Premier and Pete Rock-produced Premiem Soul On The Rocks, and this one right here, Smell the Da.I.S.Y. (Smell Da Inner Soul of Yancy). Featuring reworked De La lyrics over vintage J Dilla production, the 11-track mixtape is a rap purist’s wet dream. What’s more, the free download also comes with a Dilla documentary called Still Shining.
