Angie Martinez leaves Hot 97 to join Power 105.1!

Change is good!

Angie Martinez has been the icon and prized jewel of Hot 97 for over 15 years. As of yesterday, Ms. Martinez has announced her departure from the radio station and introduced her new venture at Power 105 as an afternoon host.

It is a shock to most, but a happy one because even though she is leaving her longtime home, she is still going to be the "Voice of New York City".

Congrats to Angie and definitely congrats to Power 105! Having The Breakfast Club in the AM and Angie in the PM is gonna be monstrous!

HAPPY NIKE AIR MAX DAY!

This is the first time I've heard of it, but today is offically Nike Air Max Day. My personal favorites are the 95s, 90s, 97s and the 1s, but all the Air Maxes are dope! What are yours?

Since we're on the topic of Air Maxes, I would like to tell you the history of my Air Max collection.

I started collecting in 8th grade with my first pair being the cocaine white AM 90s. I had purchased these shoes from the Footaction in Southcenter Mall which no longer exists and once I placed them on my feet in the store, I was hooked! I stunted in those kicks! I went to school in a city that wasn't up on Nike & Jordan or fashion for that matter, so I was the only female rockin' Air Maxes in my middle school. People would be like, "Those are tight! Where'd You get those from?" I felt so proud. (LOL) My collection slowly started to grow from then on. (slowly because I was broke...haha!)

My next significant purchase was in 10th grade. The neon green AM 95s were hella popular and I had to have a pair because I wanted to fit in so bad. I saved up all my money from my birthday, holidays and doing chores and was determined to copp. LOL I got bopped a.k.a. overpaid at Sneaker City in downtown Seattle, but I was so damn happy. The struggles of a sneakerhead.

The pair I regret selling the most are my gold 97s as seen in the picture to the left. I hate that damn buyers remorse. Another side effect of being a "sneaker head". Ahh well, someone off in Far Rockaway, NY is enjoying them! Haha







In present day, my Air Max collection isn't what it used to be after selling off a large portion, but my love for them still remains!

FouseyTube (Things Drake Says, The Bullying Experiment) brings us another insightful video featuring a young boy posing homeless. This video can do two things for you; bring awareness or bring disgust.

It's understandable to walk by and unintentionally not notice him, but for those who take the time to look at him, read the sign, say nothing and walk on says a lot about society. I do agree that I've also never seen a kid asking for spare change, but being that I have a child myself, seeing a homeless one triggers an urge to help. That's just me though...we don't know the truth behind anyone's story, but if we do choose to help, does it hurt you? A good deed is still a good deed regardless...

Time is Illmatic: A Nas Documentary set to premiere @ The Tribeca Film Festival

One9, Erik Parker and Anthony Saleh bring us a documentary detailing the success of Nas and his album illmatic. I don't have all the details on everything that is set to be covered, but it sounds like something great. The documentary will premiere at the Trbeca Film Festival, April 16-17 with the definitate dates and times to come. Those lucky enough to attend the festival will be gifted with a live concert by Nas following the showing.

Illmatic will always be a well regarded classic.
