The term "Trophy Wife" stirs up much controversy. Is it a compliment or a diss to be viewed at as a pretty thing hanging on your arm? Does labeling someone as a "Trophy" dehumanize and degrade them?

10 Years: Kanye West's College Dropout Album
I grew up in the 90s, but I really gravitated towards music the most during the early 2000's. I remember hearing "Through the Wire" for the first time and thinking to myself, "This shit is hella dope." (Yes, those words exactly, haha) When I first got the album I just kept thinking, "WTF is he wearing on the cover?" That was irrelevant, but anyways.... I really fell in love production, samples and beats with soulful connections. I can attribute my deep appreciation to the intstrumental side of music to Kanye and especially this album. Crazy stuff.

Kanye is an asshole
Or is he just the product of years of extreme success and scrutiny? That's a debate that could go on for the rest of our lives, but at the end of the day, as the famed quote goes, "Only God can judge." True that. How do you think you would be after being under the scope for the past decade, picked at for every move you make and being required to fit a certain mold in the industry? I'd probably act out a lil too...
Kanye has definitely had his moments: The VMA fiasco(this was pretty rude but aside from that lol), Hurricane Katrina talk, appology to George Bush...but all of those have one thing in common; he's just voicing his opinion. A lot of people like to base his entire character off these moments, but neglect to remember that he's only human. Any regular, off-the-street person who voices their opinions would get praised for their bravery, but celebrities who voice their opinions are considered assholes, plain and simple. Judged down to the t! I think it's such a crazy contradiction of society to place these celebrities in a category where they can't express their personal views or make mistakes.
I'm not a huge Kanye fan, but I do admire his creativity and success. I'm not writing this because I feel like I need to stand up for the guy, but I do think it's crazy how society labels him as an asshole more so than an artist.
