Time is Illmatic: A Nas Documentary set to premiere @ The Tribeca Film Festival
One9, Erik Parker and Anthony Saleh bring us a documentary detailing the success of Nas and his album illmatic. I don't have all the details on everything that is set to be covered, but it sounds like something great. The documentary will premiere at the Trbeca Film Festival, April 16-17 with the definitate dates and times to come. Those lucky enough to attend the festival will be gifted with a live concert by Nas following the showing.
Illmatic will always be a well regarded classic.
In celebration of his 20 year anniversary Nas will drop Illmatic XX on April 15. You can pre-order and copp it HERE.

J. Cole Makes Nas Proud Again With VIBE Impact Awards Speech
J. Cole made Nas proud again at the 2nd Annual VIBE Impact Awards. The North Carolina rapper's admiration for Nas took center stage in 2013, after his Born Sinner shout out to the Queensbridge rapper "Let Nas Down" born the remix offspring "Made Nas Proud" featuring the man himself. Cole put on a suit and took to the podium at VIBE's Impact Awards to roast his favorite rapper in one of the best speeches of the night. Cole reminisced about the first time he heard Mr. Jones' It Was Written and converted from a diehard Tupac fan to a Nas stan.
"...Once I fell in love with the art form of rhyming it was clear to see what I was drawn to, and it was a few things. It was introspection, storytelling, emotion and lyricism," said Cole. "Those were the things that I could see that I was clearly falling in love with, just as a fan of somebody, that wanted to do this. And, during my early romance with hip-hop, there was one rapper who was and still is the poster child for all of those qualities that I just named and that's Nasir Jones, obviously. " Well said, Jermaine.

When multi-platinum hiphop artist Nas was growing up in the housing projects in Queensbridge, New York, he probably wouldn’t have guessed Harvard would ask to create a hiphop fellowship in his name 30 years later. But it’s happening. So how do you design a home for hiphop at Harvard? We ventured to find out.
Growing up I would've loved an opportunity to mix hip hop and academics...the closest I got to something like this was being able to do presentations in a rap format. It's nice to know that people in higher education can understand and appreciate the benefit of hip hop in adolescent lives. It's even more dope how Harvard of all institutions has created a Hip Hop Fellowship and chosen NAS to honor it. Wow.
